Welcome to Fall 2014!

It's official, folks: Summer is over -- and we couldn't be happier to be starting another steaming hot semester of Tea Time with all of you!

Alicia and George by the Tea Time booth

We were absolutely delighted to meet so many of you at the Cannery this Saturday. The charming individuals you met at our booth were Andy, Jonathan Alicia, George and Kyle, and we can't wait to see more of your wonderful faces at our first official meeting on Friday, September 12th. As per usual, we will be meeting every Friday @ 3:30pm, in room 420 of the 180 New Montgomery building.

We've got a great lineup of activities planned for the semester, and hope that you're all as excited as we are: New shirts, a heart-warming aniSLAM, an action-packed Fall Festival, CTN, and already we're signing up our industry connections to come share their experiences with the likes of us. It's going to be a semester to remember.

Lots of new faces at the mixer!

Can't wait to see you all Friday, and until then -- Happy animating!

500 members: Breaking the Silence, a letter.

Dear Tea Time,

It has been an unacceptably long time since I've managed to have a moment to spare for our blog -- forgive me, Tea Time is going through a change of hands as some of us (namely, the person writing this) are graduating and getting out into the proverbial "real world".

It is, however, time to get our online base up to speed as Tea Time Animation has just, officially reached 500 members!

We are so excited to have reached such an exciting milestone, and we have you to thank! Let's keep this ball rolling, bigger, better things are on their way!

Tea Time is 100% IN SESSION this summer, convening in room 420 of 180 NM every Friday (other than this holiday weekend, July 5th) at 3:30pm, so be sure to pop in to get feedback over a hot beverage or two.

Also, make sure to keep your eyes on the blog -- We have SO much in store coming up in the fall and we will make sure to keep you updated on every, single thing right here.

Much love from your Tea Time Board,

Lana

Spring Semester's First Meeting

Lana, Frank and Cody at the AAU Club Mixer

With a surprising amount of room to spare in our new home of room 349, the first meeting of the spring semester went off without a hitch. Although we covered a lot of the basics,we also brushed up on a few of the principles while getting to know each other a little better. (Lots more where that came from, so stay tuned.)

So what's in store for next week? That's right -- our very first guest speaker! Mike Midlock most recently finishing up some work on ILM's Pacific Rim will be joining us in club this Friday. Don't miss this opportunity to listen, take notes and get your questions answered.

Finally, in the wake of the meeting, there were a few, quick, tutorials I thought could use a bump for those who haven't been to tea time before. Check them out, and feel free to ask any questions:

New Semester & New Club Meeting Time

Welcome back Club! Here's the new news:

NEW Club Meeting Time and Day
Based on the poll we took, the majority of people would like to have the club meetings on Fridays. So we have reserved the midpoint meeting room on the 3rd floor of the 180 bldg. for Fridays, from 12:00-1:00pm.

We have reserved this time of day, so that our meetings will not interfere with finals, midpoint or final review schedules. We'll see how the time and day change goes and we can adjust the time, if need be.

Collaborative Projects: available for school credit and for those interested in volunteering.
"One So Young" and "Junior Giants" are two student collaborative projects going on at the Academy right now that are open to students who would like collaborative experience and/or would like to work on the collaborative for school credit. Watch out for fliers posted on the bulletin boards for more info, or go see Chris Armstrong on the 3rd floor of 180 bldg. for more details.

Guest Speakers, Demos and Workshop Q/A
This February is a slow month for some of our friends in the industry who have graciously offered their time to show and tell us a thing or two about animation. We look forward to arranging one or two guest speakers this month. We'll keep you posted once we've confirmed the dates and times. Be sure to check the blog for updates!

New Animation Club Meeting Time

Happy Holidays Club!

School session will be starting up again in February and there has been some interest in changing the Animation Club Meeting time to a different day of the week.

We currently meet Wednesdays at 12:30pm, but it has been suggested by several members that we change the day to Friday and possibly change the time as well.

We thought the best way to decide would be to put it to a vote on the Blog. Please vote for the day that would work best for you and once that's decided, we will pick the time of day.

We will make an announcement on the blog ahead of time as to when our first meeting of the semester will be, which may be the second week of the Spring semester.

For now, please vote in the poll and comment below about what day and time you would prefer to meet for Animation Club.
